There once was a kid, Jimm who loved to play outside with his friends.
“Come on JayKay, Hobi, Yoonji..Let’s play!!”, he would call them all after school. Due to sunny heat and pollution most of his friends would not join him to play outside.
“It’s been a week now, why aren’t Jin, Hobi not joining to play football?”, Jimm asked his neighbour Vhee. “They fall ill if they come out in this sun”, Vhee replied. “They got dry cough because of pollution too.”
“There are more vehicles than trees here. We dont get any shade”, Vhee exclaimed.
Jimm was not unconcerned. He went home that evening and wanted a solution so that his friends could all play together. He talked about it to his mother. “Eomma, why is it that we fall ill when we stay out in sun?”.
His mother could make out Jimm’s concern of global warming. “Son, sunlight is needed to gain Vitamin D, for the strength of bones. But anything that exceeds limit does harm us.”, Jimm’s mother wanted Jimm to know it all better so she continued. “Sunlight makes it possible for life to exist on Earth. Plants too need sunlight to grow.”
Jimm was listening with curiosity, searching for an solution to his worry.
“Without heat from the sun, our Earth would freeze. Heat causes liquid and frozen water to evaporate into water vapour, which rises high in the sky to form clouds. In turn the clouds that move over the globe and drop rain.”
“What is it with rain eomma?”
Jimm wanted to know more. “Growing trees take water from the soil and release it into the atmosphere.”, his mother continued.
“All that water vapour rising from the forest feeds moisture-laden clouds. These effects of rain formation, falls to the soil and gets taken up all over again.”
Jimm asked,” why do we need trees eomma?”. For that his mother explained, “Trees give us clean water to drink, air to breathe, shade and food to humans, animals and plants. They provide habitats for numerous species of fauna and flora, firewood for cooking and heat, materials for buildings and places of spiritual, cultural and much more.”
“As trees grow, they help stop climate change. Trees also cool the air by releasing water into the atmosphere from their leaves. Thus the surrounding air is cooled.”
Jimm adjusted his position on his chair, more curious to know more about life and water, trees and sun. His mother continued, “Planting more trees helps to maintain healthy soils and humidity levels in the air around the world”.
Jimm stood upright. He was clear in his mind on what he wants to do. “Thank you eomma, Saranghe”, Jimm hugged his mother and ran back to his room.
Jimm wrote this whole experience in his diary.
“I don’t want my younger friends to suffer as we are. I want them all to play under open sky”. Thus requesting to his friends to help him.
“This would be our 100th sapling. I am so hapoy for your help and cooperation friends. We are future ready by planting more trees.”
Moral of the story:
Never Cut Trees. Plant more trees.
It Helps Us to Survive. And Makes The World a Beautiful Place to Live in.
