Yoonji was a bright student. She was studying in grade 6. She had a very good grasping power. Her mother was happy for her daughter. But one thing was a concern for her mother was that Yoonji never did complete her words. She would learn her lessons and remember well but would not complete her notes. She would do her homework incomplete. Her teachers would remind her repeatedly to complete it. But they could not scold her as they also knew about Yoonji, being a good listener and she understands all her lessons well.
This made Yoonji even more neglect her writing practice. She hardly wrote in her books. She was gifted with many books which would help her in gaining more knowledge. She had her own mini library in her room. She had books on all topics, be it on the solar system -Planets, Meteors or be it on animals -Dinosaurs or Elephants, So she would spend most of her time in reading her books. It was time when her teacher told her to submit their classwork books and the respective subject projects.
Her mother kept asking her about her notes and class projects. She always got an answer of “Yes mommy, I have done it”,” Mommy, there is time still to submit it”.Yoonji’s mother had trust in her daughter. “Yoonji, did you write your homework?”, on being asked “I will write now mommy”, Yoonji would reply.
The same happened with her teacher, “Yoonji, your classwork is incomplete”. “Teacher, I will complete it and get it tomorrow”. And her teacher believed her. Yoonji being a bit unused to writing and completing her works had not completed her class workbooks and also had not done any of her subject projects. This lead Yoonji not to take her school writing works seriously. She skipped writing as she always only did reading. She would also read during her leisure time. She preferred reading over other activities.
It was time when her final exam dates were announced. Yoonji was prepared in all her subjects. Her mother was happy that while revising Yoonji knew all the answers and told answers to all the questions well. The day came of the first exam, Yoonji woke up early, completed her morning routine, and came down for her breakfast. “Good morning Yoonji”, said her mother. “Are you ready with your exam preparation?”. “Yes mommy”, Yoonji replied.”You are very well prepared so write the answers for all the questions. Read the question properly and answer it appropriately”, her mother instructed her. “Yes mommy”, Yoonji replied in assurance. Yoonji left for school. She was excited to give her offline exam after almost one and a half year.
All in her class were seated at their respective given seats. The teacher arrived on time and started distributing the answer sheets and instructed the students to fill in the required details. The bell rang and the teacher distributed the question papers. She completed writing exactly on time and gave back her answer sheet to her teacher. All the subject exams were over and Yoonji was excited about her vacation.
Her mother was happy seeing her daughter happy. She knew Yoongi would score very well. On the day of the results, Yoonji was jumping with joy and kept asking her mother, ” Mommy what if I get the first rank?!”, “Mommy will I be the only student knowing all the subjects so well?!”, “Mommy, what will teacher give me as a gift for scoring highest?!”, were few of her questions. Her mother gave a smile at her daughter’s confidence and was proud of her knowledge.
On reaching her school, “I don’t feel good to say this but Yoonji you have not written a single answer right”. Yoonji and her mother were in a state of shock when her teacher said so about her report.” That is not possible madam!”, Yoonji’s mother protested. “She knew the answer to all the questions!!”. “Yes!!”, replied the teacher. “But she has not written the answers properly. There are spelling mistakes in each and every line. The answer is either meaning differently or there is no meaning at all”, said her teacher. Going through her answer sheets Yoonji understood the blunder that she has committed. She knew the reason behind her not-so-good handwriting that she had not practiced with writing, the spellings of difficult words which lead her to write the wrong spellings for each sentence.
Moral of the story
Generally, a truthful world is a good place to live in.
Lying diminishes trust between human beings and if people did not tell the truth, life would become very difficult, as nobody could be trusted and nothing you heard or read could be trusted.
