Eternal friend

Jimm and Jin were two boys living in the same city. They studied in the same school. They were not in the same class, nor were they studying the same subject and also it is not that they met each other daily. But destiny has its own plans.

Jimm was older than Jin, so Jin relied on Jimm whenever they met. Jimm’s father worked in a private bank so this led them to travel to different places due to his father’s transfer at work. Jimm had to cope up with this change in environment and got to meet people with different interests and routines. This led him to understanding people, their thoughts, their surroundings and their feelings.

On the other hand, Jinn was brought up in a small family. He grew up in all possible facilities by his parents.

That day, while leaving school Jinn felt bad when a few other boys pushed him to make way for themselves. Jimm was walking behind Jinn when this incident took place. Jimm could see that Jinn was almost in tears. “Hey ! Do you live nearby? “, Jimm asked him as he put his one hand over Jinn’s shoulder and another towards the pathway to divert his attention.

“What is your name?”,as Jimm asked, “Jinn”, he replied. “Which class you study in?”,Jimm kept asking him questions all the way to their locality. “We stay nearby, so come home sometime. I would be glad”, Jimm invited Jinn home. Jinn was glad to get to know a friendly person. He smiled and replied, “I will. Happy weekend”.

It was now often they met while going to school and while returning sometimes, also during weekends. Jinn would share his heart-felt words with Jimm. “You can start it today, one sentence at a time. So you will get a grip of your assignment till you submit it”, Jimm suggested with good words whenever Jinn had difficulty facing certain situations. “He might not have said it to you, I mean how do you know it was about you as you did not hear him say your name !”, Jimm consoled Jinn when one day Jinn overheard other boys telling bad words.

“I am feeling depressed today 😢”, Jinn text to Jimm. “Y ? Wat happened?”, Jimm asked him.

“Moni just doesn’t understand tat I was unwilling to register for the elocution competition. He forced me to giv my name n now I hav to participate in it, which I don’t wan”

For this Jimm replied ” It happens sometimes. But it’s ok. If u wanna participate then start preparing for it otherwise u can skip attending it”. “But if i don’t participate he wil feel bad”, Jinn was worried for his friends’ feelings. “At times u wil hav to decide in life. Which is more imp n convenient”, Jimm replied.

Jimm believed in keeping everyone happy. No wonder the students were at times dependent on him for suggestions and for pieces of advice.

“Most of the troubles in life can be gained by saying yes too quickly and not saying no soon enough”,Jinn was in confused state. Jimm continued saying “When fou feel cornered and find it hard to sneak away from someone’s proposals or requests, say to them ‘it sounds lovely, so next time’. Each time you are under pressure to give in to someone, one highly effective way is to say a ‘Gentle NO’, and then fall silent. Being polite doesn’t mean you have to agree with everything they say.You don’t have to be rude or mean when saying no to someone, say No politely.”

Jimm tried to console Jinn. Jinn felt better after getting the console from Jimm.

“Sometimes we become more emotional when we go through difficult or stressful times. Always remember, you can be kind while asserting yourself, with your considerate nature”.

“☺️”, Jinn replied with a smiley. Jimm was happy too “👍🫰”.

“This is tough, but you’re tougher.”
