Once there lived two Cats who were good friends. One day they were hungry and went in search of some food.
They found some cheese but could not agree between themselves how to divide it. Hence they went to another friend, who was a cunning Monkey.
The Monkey cut the cheese which the Cats had brought him, into two pieces. Using measuring scales, he placed both pieces on each side to see if they were of equal weight.
With a sly look, the Monkey said “This slice weighs more than the other” and with that, he cut a bit off the larger piece and ate it.
“Why do you eat our cheese?” said the Cats. “Because,” said the Monkey, “I must see that neither of you has more than the other.” The other scale had now become heavy so the monkey now helped himself to a second mouthful of bite. Now, the first side of scale was heavy so the monkey again cut a piece out of it and ate it. Upon repeating so, he nibbled one piece after the other, till the poor Cats sat seeing their whole cheese, in a fair way been eaten up.
When all the cheese was over, the Cats were stunned by the result. It was too late when they realised that the Monkey was making fool out of them, the entire time.
Moral of the Story: When two quarrel someone else gains. It is better to have less than not to have nothing at all.
