Joonie was a brilliant 5th-grade student. He was most of the time reading a book, grasping others’ words, and observing his surroundings. He had knowledge of almost each and everything around him. He was par ahead in knowledge to be a 5th grader.
His teachers were proud of him for his marks in exams. Each student was impressed and inspired by him
He would answer every question asked in his class, be it any subject. His class teacher Hobie too was happy for him but had little concern for him.
“Joonie, can you go and give this to the coordinator?”, his class teacher had once asked him. But Joonie had hesitated to even get up from his bench.
“Come and solve it on the board”, his Math teacher had once asked him.
But he had refused to. His class teacher then realized that Joonie needs to open up. He is good and has great knowledge, but he is unable to present it. Hobie teacher talked about this matter with his mentor and they came up with a plan.
Hobie teacher discussed her plan with her co teachers and with Joonie’s classmates and named it ‘Mission Communication’ . All agreed to co-operate.
It was decided that in this Mission Communication, they all would create a situation where Joonie alone has to speak up.
That day Hobie teacher took a surprise test, which was a part of Mission Communication. All students submitted their answer booklets after 10-15 minutes. Teacher went through all the papers for correcting them and started to scold each other student for not writing answers well. They whole class went silent.
Almost all had put down their heads because of the scoldings. Angrily Hobie’s teacher said,”JOONIE! Get all these test books to the staff room”, and she hurried out of the classroom as the bell rang. Unknowingly, Joonie too in hurry collected the books from the teacher’s table and went behind her.
The first stage of Mission Communication was accomplished.
The next day, the Maths teacher explained a new concept to the class and solved a few problems. All students did follow her and copied all the notes. Making the other students know that the next few minutes are part of Mission Communication, she wrote a new problem statement on the blackboard. Turning back to the students, she politely asked “Solve this in your notebook”.
Then she waited till all just sit quietly not solving and only Joonie was solving it. She gave a thumbs-up to all the other students as she passed by Joonie’s bench.
“Are you solving it?”, Teacher asked. Still no answer from any student. She started to fake scold all the students,”What is this children? Could you not solve such a simple problem? I have just few minutes back explained it to you all!”. Taking Joonie’s book in her hand,”See here!, Joonie has solved, learn from him” and she immediately placed a piece of chalk piece in Joonie’s hand. “Joonie, will you show them all how to solve it?”,with a polite tone towards him.
Joonie had no option but to go ahead to the black board. “All of you copy what Joonie will write”,said the teacher just to ease the situation and make Joonie relaxed. The teacher told so to the whole class, gesturing a ‘Keep quiet and co-operate ‘, turning from Joonie.
“Well done Joonie! I am proud of you. We all are”, all clapped for Joonie as the teacher said. Turning to Joonie, “See, you did solve correctly even on the blackboard. You just need to not look at your surroundings but focus on yourself. Do not be distracted or discouraged and focus on your ability. You are what you do. You connect with people when you present your abilities to them. Be brave. It does not need the courage to communicate”. Joonie came running in tears to her and hugged her at her waist. The teacher did encourage him.
Right here is the right blog for anyone who wants to understand this topic. You realize so much its almost tough to argue with you (not that I actually will need toÖHaHa). You certainly put a fresh spin on a subject that has been written about for many years. Excellent stuff, just excellent!
