Watch Your Words
When Min and Moon were told about the power of words by their English teacher at school, the kids decided to test this idea. They both chose to speak throughout the day in kindness and in anger respectively.
They both walked at both ends of the road and were looking at the passer by. Min saw a little girl injured and she ran to her, so did Moon. Min took out an ointment from her little purse and said,”It is okay. You will be fine. It is just a little scratch”. Listening to these kind words there was a smile on the little girl’s face. “Why did you fall down? What was the need to run around? Could you not stay at a place?”, Moon raised his voice to show anger. Instantly the little girl started to cry. The injury hurt her more now. Her nanny came running, picked her up and took her in her arms.
Min and Moon continued to walk along the road. They then saw an old man with a walking stick in one hand and a basket full of vegetables in another hand. The basket somehow slipped for his hand and dropped on the ground leaving all the vegetables scattered around. Min and Moon ran to help him and in a raised voice said “Why are you carrying so much grandpa? You could have sent somebody else to buy them. See now everything is on the ground.” The old man’s face turned pale, and he looked miserable and helpless. Min reached to him taking out a small water bottle from her little purse, gave it to the old man to drink water. Then picking up all the fallen vegetables said, “I will pick it up for you grandpa. You sit here”, and she helped him to sit on the nearby bench. Both Min and Moon helped the old man but while leaving the old man held his palm on Min’s head and said,”God bless you”.
That evening the kids returned to their English teacher and recounted how Min’s kind words brought smiles and blooms on faces while Moon’s harsh words put him at a distance with the same people.
For this the English teacher said,”Words can build bridges to connect or can build walls to distance hearts of people.”
The teacher explained to them how Min’s kind words spread joy while Moon’s harsh words hurt them.
From that day on, the kids learned to watch their words carefully, understanding that what they said could grow into something beautiful or something painful.
