The Lion and the Rabbit

Once upon a time in a large jungle, there lived a big but old Lion. He was getting so old that he would feel tired to even hunt for himself.

Being the king of the jungle, the Lion called all the animals and ordered them, ‘Everyday one of you should come by yourself as my prey, otherwise I will kill you all at once”.

The animals were scared to lose their lives and agreed to obey his order. Each day, the animals went to the Lion one by one.

One day it was the turn of a young Rabbit. The Rabbit was unwilling to lose his life at such tender age.

He was looking for a way to teach the Lion how wrong he is, “I cant just blindly go to the Lion and become his prey”,”I must save the lives of other animals too”. Thinking so, he reached the Lion’s den very late.  The hungry Lion roared at the rabbit and asked,”Why are you late?”

The rabbit told, “I met another Lion on the way who was much younger and told me to surrender to him as he is the king of the Jungle”. “He would eat me if I had not run away from there”.

The Lion angrily asked,’Who is it who says is the King of this jungle? Take me to him I wil teach him a lesson”.

The Rabbit asked the Lion to follow him.

The Rabbit reached an old well and said the Lion,” That Lion lives in this well. You can take a look into it”.

The foolish lion peeped into the well and seeing his own reflection in the well water thought it to be the other Lion and roared loudly.

Hearing the echo of this own roar, the Lion got more angry thinking,” This Lion does not have respect for the king of the jungle, and roars back ?”

“I will show him who is the real King of this Jungle”. Saying so he jumped into the well, and drowned.

That was the end of the Lion’s cruelty  and all the animals lived happily after that.

Moral of the story:Wisdom is stronger than physical strength.

This maxim advises that we should look deeply upon the matter and think over on how it is to be done before we begin to act and also it warns that if we do not do so, we will be put into troubles after having done it wrongly.

Helping others is not only good for them and a good thing to do, it also makes us happier and healthier too. Giving also connects us to others, creating stronger communities and helping to build a happier society for everyone. And it’s not all about money – we can also give our time, ideas and energy
