Work Smart!!

There lived a man named Momin, a shopkeeper who earned a subtle earning from his shop. His wife had died at a young age due to certain reasons. He had a son named Yoomin, whom he raised alone. Due to customers at the shop from early morning till night, Momin could not give his time to his son. This lead young Yoomin to become free to do anything at home but he would do nothing. He skipped his classes, he skipped playing with friends, and only stay at home. “Why should I give myself trouble when father is earning enough for both of us!!”, he would think and he became lazy in a matter of time.
Seeing him wasting his time and energy, Momin was worried that his son is not active. “I must find a companion for him who could make him realize the worth of life and making a living”, Momin thought.

The next day, while having breakfast, “Yoomin, I cannot go to work today. Please take care of our shop.”, he said to Yoomin making a sad face. “But father! I know nothing about it!”, Yoomin said shocked. For this Momin said, “Then you need to learn”, and got up. He brought a small box from his room and handed it to Yoomin. When Yoomin opened it, there was a coin in it. “I have a condition. Go find someone who can buy one item with this one small coin. But, That one item must be something which you can eat, could also drink, and can grow a plant in the garden, and can provide food for the cow.”, said Momin.

“But that is the impossible father! How can anyone get something that can do so many things with such a small amount of money?” said Yoomin. But Momin did not listen to him and went back to his room.

Yoomin started from home to find someone who could buy him something to eat, drink, plant, and give food to the cows in such a small amount.

He met many people, poor and wealthy, but no one could think of anything to buy with the coin. Some laughed at the bizarre demand of the Yoomin, and some of them even claimed he must have gone crazy.

But the young man did not lose hope and visited every shop in the town, hoping to get help in learning about business management. The last shop in the town was run by a girl.

The boy was exhausted and sad when he went to her. A young girl looking at the sad Yoomin asked him what the problem was. He explained to her the task he had. “What can be bought for only one small coin — to eat, drink, and all other things my father asks for? Surely this is an impossible task!” said the boy. “Oh, that is easy, I can do that,” the girl exclaimed.
“I know what you can do,” the young girl encouraged him. She took him to the fruit market and bought him a watermelon piece for the cost of the coin.

She then explained “It provides fruit to eat, fruit juice to drink, seeds to plant in your garden, and the skin for the cow. Give it to your father, and he will be pleased.”

The boy went home happily with a watermelon. Momin was impressed with the cleverness of the girl. He thought, “Such a wise girl will be able to look over and correctly guide my son.”. So, he went to her and requested her parents to give her hand in marriage to his son.

Yoomin married the girl happily. With such a wise wife, the boy became a hard-working young man, and they all lived happily ever after.
