In a village lived two friends, Jinn and Joon. They were studying in the same school. They would play together in evening near their house.
One day Joon was feeling low. “Joon, are you okay?,asked Jinn.
“Jinn, I feel tired and won’t be able to come for practice daily”, said Joon. Jinn grinned.
“What is it that is making you tired?”, Jinn questioned.
“I still have lot of portion to cover up and I have still not completed my notes. It’s just daily homework I could do after our Football practice”, Joon explained.
“Don’t worry Joonie”, assured Jinn. “It is just online classes going on and teacher won’t be there to see if our notes are up to date. We can complete them later”, Jinn said blankly.
“You concentrate on football now, it will all be fine”, Jinn tried to soothe down Joon.
“No Jinn. This is going to be my schedule from now as I need to study for my own good else I might score less in next exam. I suggest you too do the same”, Joon tried to explain Jinn what is right at that time.
Jinn would go to play football every single day and when back home he could only do homework and all his notes were incomplete. Joon started to complete his notes one after another. So he was upto date in the portion covered in their school online classes. This helped him to even read while completing notes. He would go to play only after finishing his work.
finishing his work.
A month later, teacher announced in their online class, “Quiet Children! You have a test next week so do submit your homework and get your notes corrected by your subject teachers in two days”.
Joon had all his notes completed and he also prepared for the test.
Jinn, on the other side was in stress for next two days to complete his homeworks and missed out notes. Yet in a hurry he could not complete it as expected by his teachers.
He did not get time to even study for the tests. He even missed his football practice for next 2 weeks.
Joon scored good in all subjects and so his teacher was happy for him, “Very well done Joon. Keep it up!”, his teacher appreciated and encouraged him.
Jinn scored nearly to pass in all the subjects.
Two days after their school tests, Jinn and Joon met at playground. Jinn was not satisfied with his scores in all subjects. “It’s OK Jinn”, comforted Joon.
“It’s just a test. We yet have our final exams in which you can do well”, Joon said to Jinn.
Just then their football coach approached them, “I waited for you both. Why did you not attend yesterday’s football selection? Jinn you would have made it to our team this year”.
Both the boys were shocked as they missed the opportunity for which they were waiting for almost a year!
Jinn was sad and was almost in tears. He thought he neither did well in his tests nor got into football team.
Joon replied to their coach, “We had tests at school so we were busy with studies”. Looking at Jinn he said, “It went off our mind about the selection.”, said sadly because it was Jinn’s dream to be a football player and missing one opportunity would affect his confidence.
“It is always advised to be prepared as hard work yields best fruits. It is best when opportunity meets preparation because opportunity knocks only once but there is always a second chance. We will prepare ourselves for next time”, their coach tried to cheer up Jinn.
Moral Of The Story: Success comes when opportunity meets preparations. If one door closes, another opens. Hope, Faith and Patience lead to success.
